Varnum’s aviation law experience encompasses a variety of legal services from advising on private party aircraft transactions to serving as general counsel for regional and international airports.
We help clients with all aspects of aircraft ownership including acquisition, disposition, operation, leasing and financing. We have worked with many clients to structure fractional ownerships, including partnerships and LLCs. We also work with consultants to help clients identify their aircraft and travel needs before recommending appropriate aircraft to suit client needs. In addition, our aviation team advises lenders regarding aircraft financing, lending and documentation.
We provide counsel on state and federal registrations as well as International Registry requirements. An important part of our work involves creating ownership and management structures which comply with complex Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
In addition to private aircraft ownership matters, we advise both general aviation and commercial service airports throughout Michigan on regulatory matters, operations, leases and agreements, and real estate acquisition. Our clients include Gerald R. Ford International Airport, Capital Region International Airport and Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport.
Our aviation team includes active instrument-rated pilots, airplane owners, an active commercial pilot, and attorneys with years of experience representing major regional airports. Varnum's aviation law team is well equipped to assist clients will all aviation law needs.
