Varnum Welcomes Eight New Associates to the Firm

Varnum is pleased to announce the addition of eight associate attorneys: Maria Gedris, Laila Hamad, Andrew Jenks, Rebecca Krasity, Makailah Muriithi, Peyton Rayburn, Morgan Rubino, and Haylee Skank. 

Maria Gedris graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School, where she was an assistant editor for the Wayne Law Review and a membership coordinator for the Wayne Law Hub. She was also a student attorney in the Business and Community Law Clinic. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and is based in the Birmingham office. 

Laila Hamad graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School, where she was a junior editor for the Journal of Business Law, served as moot court chancellor, and was a board member of the Middle Eastern Law Students Association. She received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Eastern Michigan University and is based in the Birmingham office. 

Andrew Jenks graduated from Washington and Lee University School of Law, where he served as president of the Sports, Entertainment, and Intellectual Property Law Society and was a student attorney in the Community Legal Practice Center Clinic. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Grand Valley State University and was a member of the Frederik Meijer Honors College. He is based in the firm’s Grand Rapids office. 

Rebecca Krasity graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she was a law-in-action scholar and managing editor of the University of Wisconsin Law Review. She received her undergraduate degree from New York University and is based in the Birmingham office. 

Makailah Muriithi graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she earned a certificate in advocacy, completing specialized coursework in trial and appellate advocacy, dispute resolution, and litigation strategy, and was a member of the Intellectual Property moot court competition team. She received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and is based in the Grand Rapids office. 

Peyton Rayburn graduated from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where she was a J.D. fellow at the Center for Constitutional Democracy and earned a graduate certificate in rule of law and constitutional design. She was a member of the Indiana Journal of Constitutional Design and served as vice president for the Public Interest Law Foundation. She was also active in the Incarcerated Individual Legal Assistance Project and Women’s Law Caucus. Rayburn received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Miami University and is based in the Grand Rapids office. 

Morgan Rubino graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where she was the executive notes editor for the Journal of Legislation and held leadership roles in the Intellectual Property Law Society and American Constitution Society. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and is based in the Grand Rapids office. 

Haylee Skank graduated from Washington University School of Law, where she served as vice president of the If/When/How organization and as a staff editor for the Washington University Journal of Law and Policy. She was also a member of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Law Clinic, assisting in complex environmental health issues in the St. Louis community. She received her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from the University of Michigan–Flint and is based in the Grand Rapids office.
