Attorney
Haylee is a regulatory attorney whose practice focuses on energy and health care law while providing additional support to the firm’s environmental, municipal, and real estate teams. In her energy practice, she works with developers on utility-scale renewable energy projects, including state siting matters under Michigan Public Act 233. She supports data center, energy storage, and related power generation projects and assists clients in contested proceedings before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).
In her health care practice, Haylee assists physicians, physician groups, and other health care entities with a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters. Her experience includes counseling on the Corporate Practice of Medicine, federal Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute and their Michigan equivalents, HIPAA/HITECH privacy and security requirements, and CMS billing rules. She also reviews physician and professional service agreements as well as management services organization (MSO) arrangements to ensure alignment with applicable fraud and abuse laws.
Before joining Varnum, Haylee served as a judicial intern for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. While in law school, Haylee was a member of the Washington University Journal of Law and Policy and the Interdisciplinary Environmental Law Clinic where she represented clients in advancing community development and safe housing initiatives in the Greater Saint Louis area.
