Attorney
Schuyler is an associate attorney focusing his practice on environmental, municipal, and regulatory law including compliance counseling, transactional due diligence, administrative proceedings, and energy and alternative energy projects.
He regularly assists clients with environmental site assessment reviews, remediation oversight, and navigating Michigan’s Baseline Environmental Assessment program. Schuyler also plays an active role in negotiating environmental aspects of business acquisitions and dispositions. In addition, he advises clients on a range of regulatory matters including land use and zoning approvals, permitting and licensing requirements, and compliance with state and federal administrative agency rules and procedures. He also works with data center developers and operators on siting and permitting requirements, helping clients navigate the complex regulatory landscape associated with data center development.
Prior to joining Varnum, Schuyler gained experience in legal and public sectors. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern in the Office of Administrative Law Judges at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Schuyler was also a member of the Wake Forest Journal of Law and Policy and participated in both the Environmental and Appellate Advocacy Clinics where he gained advocacy experience representing clients in state and federal appellate courts. Before law school, he served as an AmeriCorps volunteer with a statewide nonprofit focused on higher education persistence and completion in Michigan.
