Attorney Recruiting and Professional Development Manager

Makayla is Varnum’s Attorney Recruiting and Professional Development Manager. She oversees the firm’s lateral attorney recruiting efforts, partnering with practice group leaders to identify hiring needs, sourcing and engaging experienced candidates, and guiding each search from first conversation through offer and integration. She also manages the firm’s on campus and summer associate recruiting programs, building relationships with law schools and helping shape the next generation of Varnum attorneys.

Beyond recruiting, Makayla leads professional development initiatives, including the Varnum MBA program, which supports the continued growth of the firm’s attorneys. Across her work, she strives to create a thoughtful, engaging candidate experience and meaningful development opportunities that reflect Varnum’s culture and values.
