Litigation and Appellate Attorney
Jeff is member of the Litigation and Trial Practice Team with a practice focused on commercial litigation, creditors' rights, complex family law matters and municipal/public sector litigation. He has first-chaired several trials before judges and jurors, and his appellate experience includes arguing before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and briefing cases for the Michigan Supreme Court.
With a degree in economics and experience with complex financing transactions, Jeff understands the nuances of his clients' business and financial needs, as well as the incentives at play when a dispute enters litigation. Jeff takes pride in helping clients translate knowledge of their own industry and issues into successful outcomes in hearings, depositions, trials and appeals.
As part of the Creditor's Rights Practice Team, Jeff represents creditors facing challenges under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other consumer protection laws. Jeff is one member of an experienced team that defends cases in an aggressive but efficient manner.
As part of the Family Law Practice Team, Jeff focuses on complex matters involving complicated financial issues or novel legal questions. He has worked on matters involving multimillion dollar estates and has helped clients handle issues concerning hidden assets and income and complex property division.
Jeff also serves as a prosecuting attorney for several municipalities in West Michigan, prosecuting misdemeanor crimes and ordinance violations.
