Varnum Wins $1.15 Million Summary Judgment for Fuel Supply Company

June 22, 2022

Varnum litigators were successful in their recent representation of a national fuel supply and distribution company in a breach-of-contract dispute with a Texas-based fuel delivery business.

After litigating two successive summary judgment motions, Varnum attorneys Brion Doyle and Herman Hofman won a combined $1.15 million summary judgment award in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan for the client in their lawsuit against a Texas-based fuel delivery company and its registered agent.

The lawsuit was a breach-of-contract dispute filed in 2020, arising from a fuel supply and distribution relationship between the client and the defendants. The judgment included costs associated with the defendant’s unpaid fuel bills and damage to leased vehicles. The Court also awarded the client all costs, attorney’s fees and interest.
