Laura Radle Named to Michigan Lawyers Weekly “Women in the Law” Class of 2021

September 7, 2021

Varnum partner Laura Radle has been named to the 2021 Class of “Women in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

The award recognizes women who have a commitment to excellence in the practice of law, are inspiring and accomplished leaders, serve as mentors to others, and contribute significant time and effort to volunteerism and/or pro bono initiatives.

“We are very pleased to see our friend and partner Laura Radle recognized for her accomplishments, her leadership, her dedication to the legal profession and her work in the community,” said Varnum Executive Partner Scott Hill. “This recognition is an honor that is well-deserved.”

Radle is a partner at Varnum and member of the firm’s estate planning team. Her practice includes a full range of estate planning and estate settlement services including the preparation of basic or complex estate plans, tax planning, business succession planning, charitable gift planning, and estate and trust administration services. She has also developed a niche practice in cottage ownership, in which she helps clients avoid some of the pitfalls that can occur when passing down the family cottage to the next generation.

Radle is active in several bar associations and has served as vice president and treasurer for the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan as well as the Florida Bar, enabling her to best serve her clients with interests in both states or who move from one state to the other.

In addition to serving on many of Varnum’s internal committees over the past several years, Radle currently serves on the Policy Committee, which is the firm’s internal management body. She is the youngest attorney in the history of the firm to be elected to the committee.

Within the community, Radle serves on the Professional Advisory Committee of Grand Rapids Community Foundation and is a member of Grand Rapids Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and Western Michigan Planned Giving Group. She previously served on the Gilda’s Club Red Council and on the board of Grandville Avenue Arts & Humanities, including serving as President in 2013-2015 and Vice President in 2011-2012.

Radle is a 2008 graduate of Michigan State University College of Law, graduating summa cum laude, and holds an M.B.A from Grand Valley State University. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. She is regularly recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for both Trusts and Estates and Closely Held Companies/Family Business Law and is also recognized by Top Lawyers for Trusts and Estates law.

Radle and her husband have three young children. They enjoy spending time outdoors biking, skiing, traveling and attending sporting events.

Michigan Lawyers Weekly will hold a luncheon event to honor this year’s class of Women in the Law on Sept. 9 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy. A complete list of honorees can be found here: https://milawyersweekly.com/witl/
