Varnum litigation attorney Kyle Konwinski has been voted Chair-Elect of the Environmental Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and will continue as Chair of the Litigation and Administrative Law Committee within the section.
In his role as Chair-Elect, Konwinski will support leadership initiatives for the section, including education of the Bar’s members on environmental law, organizing events for section members and the community and promoting the understanding and appreciation of Michigan’s environmental laws. As Chair of the Litigation and Administrative Law Committee, he will oversee efforts to keep members informed of developments pertaining to environmental disputes across administrative, state and federal forums.
Recently, Konwinski served as the Co-Chair of the Joint Conference between the Environmental Law Section and the East and West Michigan Sections of the Air & Waste Management Association. Additionally, he presented an update on important environmental law decisions from the Michigan Supreme Court and United States Supreme Court.
Konwinski is a partner and first-chair litigator at Varnum with a focus on environmental and land-use matters. He has experience representing clients in compliance and litigation under Michigan’s environmental laws, including many Parts of Michigan’s Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, as well as federal statutes like CERCLA (Superfund) and RCRA.
Recognized by Top Lawyers for his work in environmental law and commercial litigation, Konwinski is also involved as a member of the Environmental Litigation Section of the American Bar Association. In the community, he serves on the Alumni Association and Engagement Board for Kalamazoo College and volunteers as a coach for youth sports.
