Varnum LLP advised a local investment group led by Saber Ammori, Kevin Denha, and Andrew Dickow in connection with its acquisition of the iconic Buddy’s Pizza.
Buddy’s Pizza is a Detroit-based restaurant brand founded in 1946 and widely recognized as the originator of Detroit-style pizza. Through the acquisition, Buddy’s will continue to build on its in-restaurant experience while expanding its frozen pizza offerings nationwide. The transaction also returns ownership of the brand to a local investment group focused on preserving its legacy and supporting future growth.
Varnum advised the investment group on all aspects of the deal, including negotiating and drafting transaction documents, conducting multidisciplinary legal due diligence, coordinating Michigan Liquor Control Commission licensing and transfer requirements, forming the buyer entity, assisting with transaction financing and escrow matters, and preparing the parties for closing. Partner Michael Romaya led the deal team, which included Mallory Field, Jacob Whately, Christopher Baker, and John Sturgis.
