Attorney
Marisa is an associate attorney who supports clients across several practice areas, including litigation, privacy, regulatory matters, and family law. She advises clients on complex issues related to evolving legal frameworks, technology-related matters, and sensitive disputes affecting individuals and organizations.
Marisa also has experience representing individuals and families in matters involving custody disputes, guardianships, adoptions, surrogacy, and reproductive law. She is committed to helping individuals and families of all backgrounds, including those experiencing fertility challenges and members of the LGBTQ+ community, navigate highly personal legal processes with practical guidance and thoughtful advocacy.
Before joining Varnum, Marisa interned with the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office and the Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C. While in law school, she represented indigent defendants through Georgetown’s Criminal Justice Clinic and served as a member of the Georgetown Law Journal. Her background also includes work with the World Health Organization and service as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Alaska.
