Tax Attorney

Kate is a member of Varnum’s Tax Planning, Compliance and Litigation Practice Team. Her practice includes tax compliance and audit support, as well as planning engagements for large multinational corporations and partnerships, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, integrations and operating model effectiveness. Kate’s experience includes roles at two Big 4 accounting firms on their International Tax and Transactions teams.

Kate has overseen quarterly international tax reporting and audit engagements for multinational corporations in accordance with U.S. GAAP. She has experience in tax compliance matters including returns and informational reporting for international entities. Kate has also supported the tax-free spin-off of a major automotive mobility company, providing guidance through complex transitions.

Kate advises multinational clients on U.S. and local tax considerations, reviewing operating agreements and legal documents to support transaction implementation. She specializes in aligning global business objectives with tax incentives, creating efficiency in operating models and has authored memoranda to substantiate tax positions through detailed tax law research.
