Matt is a partner on the Business and Corporate Services Practice Team, and participates in both the Startup and Emerging Companies and Intellectual Property Practice Teams. His practice focuses on corporate formation and organization, venture financings, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, securities law, and intellectual property protection and transactions. He works closely with startups, second stage and private companies on day-to-day issues and all manner of corporate and intellectual property transactions.
Matt's particular industry concentrations include software (including "software as a service" [SaaS], mobile, enterprise software, and software development), information and communication technology, and "Internet of things" (IoT) across a wide variety of businesses and applications. He is also a frequent lecturer on entrepreneurship, venture capital and corporate transactions, as well as copyright, trademark, Internet, software, and other areas of intellectual property law.

$1.6 million Series A financing, $2 million venture debt transaction, and $1.5 million convertible bridge financing for Ann Arbor-based payment processing company.
$2.5 million convertible debt financing and $2 million equity financing for Detroit-based customer relationship management (CRM) company.
Six-figure licensing transactions for California-based insurance risk management software company.
