Varnum Partner Erika Salerno Shadowens Joins Board of Directors for Girls on the Run Greater Kalamazoo

Varnum partner Erika Salerno Shadowens has been named to the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run Greater Kalamazoo.

GOTR is a nonprofit organization that aims to teach critical life skills to girls of all abilities through dynamic, interactive lessons and physical activity. The organization offers a variety of programs for girls in third through eighth grades. The Greater Kalamazoo council was established in 2002.

A family law attorney specializing in divorce, child custody and family law litigation, Shadowens is also a trained mediator and collaborative lawyer. She serves clients across the state and has litigated cases in all levels of the court system including the Michigan Supreme Court.

In addition to Girls on the Run, Shadowens is a volunteer for the East Kentwood High School Marching Band and Red Storm Robotics Team. She is an adjunct professor for Western Michigan University.

Shadowens holds an LL.M. degree in Health Care Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, in addition to her J.D. from Drake University Law School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University.
