Varnum attorney Elliott Berlin has been named to the Class of 2022 Up & Coming Lawyers by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Up & Coming Lawyers are recognized for their accomplishments in the legal profession and community within their first ten years of practice.
Berlin is a corporate attorney with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, lending transactions, commercial real estate transactions, and a wide variety of other commercial transactions. He has represented clients in negotiating, structuring, and documenting complex M&A, lending, and other commercial transactions, nationally and internationally, involving billions of dollars.
In addition to his practice, Berlin is very involved in the Southwest Michigan community. He serves on the Board of Directors for The Avenue Family Network, which provides day services for adults with special needs. He is also a frequent presenter on legal topics to various community organizations and a graduate of Michigan’s Great Southwest Strategic Leadership Council Leadership Accelerator, the area’s premier professional development program. In 2020, Berlin was named to Southwest Michigan’s 40 Under 40, recognizing young professionals who have made a positive impact on the community.
As part of his nomination, Varnum partner Eric Post said, “Elliott exhibits the poise and expertise of an attorney far beyond his years. He is highly skilled at managing several deals and a variety of general corporate projects at one time. He often takes the lead role in deals that would otherwise be reserved for a much more seasoned attorney.”
Berlin is a 2013 magna cum laude graduate of Michigan State University College of Law, where he received two Jurisprudence Achievement Awards (top grade in course) and was a Faculty Scholar award recipient. He received his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University, majoring in business management. Michigan Lawyers Weekly will honor the Class of 2022 Up & Coming Lawyers at a recognition luncheon event in April. Berlin and other members of the class will be profiled in an upcoming edition of Michigan Lawyers Weekly. More information about the award can be found here.
