Varnum attorney Marisa McConnell has been appointed to the Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) Legislative Committee for the American Bar Association (ABA) Family Law Section.
The ABA Family Law Section is a global network of professionals dedicated to advancing the field of family law, including areas such as adoption, assisted reproductive technologies, divorce, child support, custody, domestic violence, and marital property. In her new role, Marisa will contribute to the ART Legislative Committee, which examines the legal and ethical implications of emerging reproductive technologies and how they relate to family law.
Marisa maintains a fertility law practice focused on surrogacy and assisted reproductive technologies. She is committed to helping individuals and families, including those experiencing fertility challenges and members of the LGBTQ+ community. She also has significant experience with divorce, custody disputes, minor guardianships, stepparent and relative adoptions.
Marisa previously interned with the San Francisco Public Defender’s Juvenile Unit and the Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C. She is also a current author and contributor for the Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
