Varnum attorney Justin Allen has joined the Legal Assistance Center’s (LAC) Board of Trustees.
Located in the Kent County Courthouse, the LAC is a nonprofit self-help center dedicated to providing legal resources to underserved communities. The LAC addresses the challenges faced by individuals representing themselves in the legal process, ensuring that limited financial circumstances and the complexity of the legal system do not prevent individuals from seeking a fair outcome.
Varnum has supported the LAC since its inception in 2002, providing financial resources and leadership. Building on this long-standing relationship, Allen will leverage his experience to further the LAC’s mission.
Allen is a member of Varnum’s Litigation and ADR Practice Team, focusing on probate litigation and representing clients in hearings, depositions, trial and appellate proceedings. He addresses will contests, trust disputes, guardianship and conservatorship challenges, and petitions for mental health treatment, while also handling complex commercial litigation across various fields.
Throughout his career, Allen has handled cases involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), proxy contests, environmental enforcement actions, contractual disputes and non-competition/non-solicitation agreements.
Outside of his practice, Allen serves on the board of Opera Grand Rapids and Heart of West Michigan United Way.
