Varnum Attorneys Named to Law360’s Editorial Advisory Boards

Varnum partners Scott Hill and Eric Nemeth have been named to Law360’s Editorial Advisory Boards for 2025. Hill will serve on the Michigan Board, and Nemeth will serve on the Tax Authority Federal Board. As board members, they will provide feedback on Law360’s coverage and expert insight on how to shape future coverage in these areas.

Hill is a corporate attorney and Executive Partner at Varnum, specializing in business representation, transactions, planning, and counseling. As a co-managing partner of the firm, he offers a unique perspective on the Michigan market to the Editorial Boards, including business performance, talent strategies, and regional opportunities.

He works closely with clients and advises on issues including supply chain management, business transitions, and succession planning. Hill has also led major transactions across industries, including facilitating the acquisition of a software development company to enhance vertical integration.

Nemeth leads the firm’s Tax Planning, Compliance, and Litigation Team. A former senior trial lawyer for the IRS, he has extensive experience in tax law with a focus on all aspects of civil and criminal law, as well as complex financial investigative and litigation matters. Nemeth has led or assisted in matters for clients on five continents and throughout the United States. He routinely provides legal advice and counsel to clients regarding the tax implications of assets held outside of the United States.

His clients benefit from his prior experience representing the government in IRS audits, investigations, negotiations, and litigation. He started his career as a senior trial lawyer for IRS Chief Counsel (Honors Program) and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. Nemeth also proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Judge Advocate. During his tenure with the government, he litigated complex matters and provided legal support, guidance, and strategy for a multitude of criminal investigations and civil tax examinations. His service was recognized with multiple performance awards.
