Ashleigh Draft Selected for Leadership Grand Rapids Class of 2026

Varnum attorney Ashleigh Draft has been selected to participate in the Leadership Grand Rapids Class of 2026. An initiative of the Grand Rapids Chamber, Leadership Grand Rapids aims to create a network of trustees committed to strengthening the local community.

The 10-month program brings together 40 professionals each year through a competitive selection process. Participants engage in immersive learning experiences designed to build cross-sector relationships and deepen their understanding of key regional issues.

Draft is an attorney on the Labor and Employment Practice Team with additional experience in corporate and education law. She is experienced in workplace investigations, labor negotiations, and the successful resolution of employment-related disputes. She also advises clients on compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws and other workplace matters, including the development of employee handbooks and policies, discrimination, disability accommodation, and wage-hour issues.

In her education law practice, Draft works with school districts and higher education institutions. She assists with student affairs, school discipline issues, and specialized matters of compliance, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 (Title IX).

Draft is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law and earned her undergraduate degree from Calvin College, along with a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University. She also serves on the boards of the Grand Rapids Ballet and the Literacy Center of West Michigan.
