Carolyn Sullivan Joins Varnum Labor and Employment Team

Varnum is pleased to announce that Carolyn Sullivan has joined Varnum’s Labor and Employment Team. She is based in the firm’s Grand Rapids office.

Sullivan is an experienced labor and employment attorney. She advises clients on compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws and other workplace matters. She frequently provides counsel on effective employee handbooks and policies, discrimination, ADA compliance, MIOSHA and wage-hour issues. An experienced litigator, Sullivan also defends employers in federal and state court, as well as administrative charges including unemployment and EEOC matters. She has additional experience reviewing employee benefit plans, including 401(k) plans and Section 125 Cafeteria Plans.

Sullivan graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where she served as Executive Editor for Michigan State Law Review. She participated in multiple Moot Court competitions during law school, receiving a 1st Place Brief Award in the 2019 internal moot court competition and placing as a finalist in the 2018 Donald Nystrom Best Brief Competition. She served as President of the Public Interest Law Society and received a Child Advocacy Certificate in the MSU Chance at Childhood Clinic. She attended Grand Valley State University Frederik Meijer Honors College for her undergraduate degree.
