Partner Brendan Best has joined the board of Cass Community Social Services, partner Rebecca Wrock has been named Managing Editor of the Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Journal, and attorney Michael Stroup has been appointed to the Grand Rapids Bar Association (GRBA) Real Property Section Executive Committee.
Brendan Best Joins Cass Community Social Services Board of Directors
Cass Community Social Services is a Detroit-based nonprofit that works across the city in areas of concentrated poverty, providing programs focused on food, health, housing, and employment. As a board member, Best supports the organization’s mission and strategic initiatives to serve individuals and families in need.
Best leads Varnum’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditors’ Rights Practice Team. He represents lenders, debtors, creditors, and other stakeholders in complex Chapter 11 restructurings, insolvency-related litigation, and out-of-court workouts. Best advises clients across a variety of industries on restructuring strategies and bankruptcy-related matters.
Rebecca Wrock Named Managing Editor of the Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Journal
The Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Journal, published by the Probate & Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan, features articles and updates on developments in probate, estate planning, and trust law. As Managing Editor, Wrock helps oversee the development and publication of articles that provide guidance and insights to members of the Probate & Estate Planning Section.
Wrock is a partner on Varnum’s Estate Planning Practice Team. Her practice includes estate planning, estate and trust administration, tax planning, charitable planning, and business succession planning. She advises individuals and families on strategies to preserve wealth and transfer assets across generations.
Michael Stroup Named to GRBA Real Property Section Executive Committee
The Grand Rapids Bar Association Real Property Section brings together attorneys practicing real estate law to collaborate on matters affecting the practice. The section also supports continuing legal education and provides the community with information on real property law. As a member of the section’s Executive Committee, Stroup will support these efforts and help guide section programming.
Stroup is a member of Varnum’s Real Estate Practice Team. He assists clients with a wide range of real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and development of commercial, industrial, and residential properties. He also advises clients on zoning and land use matters and represents landlords and tenants in negotiating retail, office, and industrial leases.
