Want a Cell Tower on Your Property? The Cell Companies Will Contact You

December 23, 2013

You’ve no doubt read that a cell tower lease could be worth a lot of money and that having a cell tower lease can be worth a lot of money to a property owner. It’s possible, even, that you’ve thought to yourself, “I have the room on my property. I’d love to make some extra cash. How do I get a cell phone company to put a cell tower on my land?”

Short answer: You can’t.

They will call you, you don’t call them.

The locations of cell towers are determined by cell phone companies’ engineering studies. These studies determine where there is a need and which locations are best suited for cell tower placement. As a result of those studies, a cell company would contact you if they believed your property would be a good location for a cell tower.

John Pestle has previously co-presented on topics related to cell tower leases and lease buyouts. Those seminars are available for purchase. Current Issues in Cell Tower Leases and Lease Buyouts is available as a CD with a reference manual. Cell Tower Lease Buyouts is available for purchase as an on-demand webinar.
