Varnum partner Matthew Bailey has been selected to participate in the Leadership Grand Rapids Class of 2027. An initiative of the Grand Rapids Chamber, Leadership Grand Rapids, aims to create a network of trustees committed to strengthening the local community.
The 10-month program brings together 40 professionals each year through a competitive selection process. Participants engage in immersive learning experiences designed to build cross-sector relationships and deepen their understanding of key regional issues.
Bailey is a partner on Varnum’s Family Law Practice Team and an experienced attorney who brings a collaborative, client-focused approach to complex family law matters. He represents clients in divorce, child custody, parenting time disputes, asset division, and financial support matters, with strength in helping clients reach practical, amicable resolutions while minimizing the need for litigation.
Prior to joining Varnum, Bailey gained valuable courtroom and legal experience as a member of his family’s law firm in mid-Michigan, Bailey & Terranova. Prior to that, he served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Stephen Borrello of the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Bailey earned both his law degree and undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. In addition to his legal practice, he contributes to Varnum’s internal initiatives as a member of the firm’s Contribution and AI Committees.
