MiSpringboard is Varnum’s initiative designed to remove some of the barriers associated with starting a business by providing legal services grants to qualified startups and emerging companies. Through the program, entrepreneurs gain access to experienced attorneys who help address the legal challenges involved in launching and growing a business.
Supporting Michigan Startups Since 2011
Varnum launched MiSpringboard in 2011 with a commitment of $1 million in legal services grants to support Michigan entrepreneurs and strengthen the state’s innovation economy. Due to the program’s success, Varnum has renewed its commitment multiple times, providing more than $4 million in legal services grants to date.
Since its launch, MiSpringboard has served more than 1,000 clients across 175 Michigan communities, 26 states, and five countries. Clients represent industries ranging from technology and health care to consumer products, manufacturing, energy, and financial services.
MiSpringboard has also developed relationships with more than 70 referral partners, including economic development organizations, universities, accelerators, and investor groups throughout Michigan.
