Varnum Secures Arbitration Victory in School Placement Dispute

June 24, 2025

Varnum LLP recently obtained a successful outcome in an arbitration regarding a school placement decision for a child. The ruling prioritized the child’s best interests, while maintaining a fair parenting arrangement.

The case, spanning several months of hearings and detailed analysis, focused on preserving the child’s established custodial environment while balancing educational priorities and family connections.

Varnum’s legal team, which consisted of Julia Perkins and Chanel Taylor, presented compelling evidence and thorough arguments, emphasizing the stability offered by the selected school districts and the broader benefits to the child’s well-being.

The arbitrator’s decision, detailed in a comprehensive 64-page ruling, supported this approach, affirming a resolution that ensures academic continuity and equitable parenting time.

Following the decision, the opposing party filed a motion for errors and omissions. The matter remains pending potential appeal.

This outcome demonstrates Varnum’s commitment to achieving thoughtful, client-focused solutions in challenging family law matters.
