Varnum Business Professionals Recognized as “Unsung Legal Heroes” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly

January 21, 2026

Varnum business professionals Shelley Kulick and Judy Peterman have been recognized in Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Unsung Legal Heroes” Class of 2025.

The recognition is reserved for talented and dedicated legal support professionals who have consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty, according to Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Each of Varnum’s honorees was nominated by attorneys they directly support.

Kulick supports Varnum’s litigation attorneys as a paralegal, managing case details, research, discovery, and trial preparation with precision and foresight. With nearly 15 years of experience, she consistently anticipates needs, crafts solutions under pressure, and ensures every aspect of a case is handled flawlessly, earning the respect of colleagues and co-counsel alike. Beyond her core duties, Kulick provides guidance to newer attorneys and strengthens the team’s effectiveness, professionalism, and culture. Her skill, dedication, and quiet leadership make her a true unsung hero.

Peterman has been a dedicated member of Varnum for 43 years, supporting attorneys on the Corporate Practice Team with corporate documents, filings, and compliance matters, often anticipating and resolving issues before they arise. Beyond her core responsibilities, Peterman strengthens the firm’s culture through thoughtful, often unnoticed contributions, from assisting with day-to-day office needs to celebrating colleagues during personal milestones. Her professionalism, humility, and team-focused approach demonstrate the qualities of an unsung hero.

“Shelley and Judy exemplify the dedication, skill, and professionalism that keep our teams running smoothly every day,” said Adam Brody, Varnum’s Executive Partner. “Their hard work behind the scenes is crucial to our success, and we are proud to see their efforts recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.”
