Charu is part of the Litigation and Trial Team, where she works primarily on government enforcement actions, commercial contract disputes, and toxic tort and environmental litigation.
Charu's passion for zealous advocacy and creative problem-solving have driven her career and motivated her to provide her clients with high-quality and cost-efficient service. Charu has successfully defended manufacturers and agricultural industry clients against challenges by environmental advocacy groups and other private parties. She has also assisted clients from various industries in government enforcement actions by defending and advising them through litigation, settlement negotiations and regulatory compliance. Charu has worked extensively with both private parties and governmental entities in a number of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) disputes.
Prior to joining Varnum, Charu worked at the Executive Office of Immigration Review within the United States Department of Justice. During law school, she served as symposium editor of the Environmental Law and Policy Annual Review, where her interest in environmental policy and her organizational skills allowed her to successfully plan and execute numerous academic conferences.
