Senate Passes Immigration Reform
The Senate passed its comprehensive immigration reform bill. However, it is unclear when or how the House of Representatives will proceed on the issue. While this is a step toward potential immigration reform, employers should remember that this does not change the work authorization Form I-9 requirements. Accordingly, workers who disclose that they lack US work authorization provide the employer actual knowledge, and the employer must terminate the worker until work authorization is secured.
