New EEOC Workplace Poster Available

October 30, 2009

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has announced that a revised workplace notice reflecting the requirements of the new Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), as well as changes made by the ADA Amendments Act, is available for posting.

To comply with posting requirements under the federal civil rights laws, employers can download and print “EEO Is The Law” poster supplement, provided on the EEOC’s website, and post that document alongside EEOC’s September 2002 edition of the poster. Alternatively, employers may download, print, and post the November 2009 version of the EEOC poster which is also provided on the commission’s website.

Employers can also order copies of the new posters, which are available in Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic, as well as English, from an EEOC clearinghouse located in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. If you have questions regarding your posting obligations, please contact any member of Varnum’s Labor Group.
