Varnum Represents Chinese Company in Acquisition of U.S. Manufacturing Facility

January 4, 2015

Varnum was retained as U.S. counsel for a publicly-traded Chinese company in growth mode, expanding into the U.S. and Europe. Varnum represented the client in its acquisition of a southeast Michigan-based designer/manufacturer of conveyor and material handling systems, the client’s first acquisition in North America. The target company was represented by a global law firm with over 4,000 lawyers.

In addition to addressing typical M&A issues, Varnum worked with the client to assimilate to the culture and industry space of the target and accommodated the client’s schedule by being very flexible with time-zone differences. The deal was valued at $53.5 million. Varnum continues to work with the client, providing general corporate, finance, litigation and immigration counsel.
