Newell, Schmidt Named Partners at Varnum Law Firm

Varnum is pleased to announce that Toni L. Newell and Peter A. Schmidt have been elected to the partnership.

Newell focuses her practice on matters involving energy and oil & gas law, providing a variety of services for clients, including the areas of litigation, regulatory and transactional. Additionally, Newell provides non-energy specific legal services for clients in various commercial sectors.

Newell received her law degree from Notre Dame Law School and her undergraduate degree in Film & Video Studies from the University of Michigan.

Schmidt focuses his practice on real estate, finance and municipal matters. His practice is transaction-oriented, working with businesses, institutions, developers, and investors in real estate purchases, sales, leasing, financing and development projects, including shopping centers and other commercial developments. Schmidt also represents lenders in documenting, negotiating and closing commercial loan transactions. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Land Conservancy of West Michigan.

Schmidt received his law degree from University of Wisconsin Law School and his undergraduate degree in English from Albion College.
