Varnum Named to "Most-Philanthropic Small Business" List
Grand Rapids, Michigan January 14, 2010 – West Michigan Business Review has named Varnum one of the "Most-Philanthropic Small Businesses" for 2009, based on donations of over $400,000 last year.
Business Review solicited submissions from business with fewer than 500 employees.
The top five were selected based on the amount donated to 501 (c)(3) organizations per employee from December 2008 to November 2009.
Among the list of organizations that Varnum has contributed to (almost 170 organizations) are Big Brothers Big Sisters - A Community of Caring, American Cancer Society, Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, Hospice of Michigan, Inforum, Institute for Healing Racism, The Right Place, Inc., and the YWCA of West Central Michigan. While the bulk of Varnum's donations went to West Michigan-based organizations, the firm contributes to organizations in all five communities in which it has offices.
