Varnum Elects Five Attorneys to the Partnership
Varnum is pleased to announce that Mallory Field, Kevin Macaddino, Katie Roskam, Sam Vitale and Sarah Wixson have been elected to the firm’s partnership.
“Our slate of new partners this year reflects the firm’s growing presence in the Southeast Michigan region,” said Varnum Chair Ron DeWaard, noting that four of the five new partners are based in Southeast Michigan offices. “Each of these attorneys is an exceptional practitioner, and we are pleased to welcome them to the partnership.”
The new partners also represent a variety of professional backgrounds and experience, including practicing elsewhere before joining the firm.
“This new partner class represents five key practice areas of the firm that are poised for growth, and for the laterals is a reflection of how quickly attorneys integrate here,” said Executive Partner Scott Hill.
Mallory Field is a corporate and financial services attorney in the Novi office. She joined the firm as an associate in 2015 from a small business firm after clerking with the EPA in Washington, D.C. Mallory focuses her practice on working with startup companies, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, private offerings and other commercial transactions. Mallory is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law and received her undergraduate degree from Albion College.
Kevin Macaddino focuses his practice on the area of commercial real estate with specialties in medical office buildings, apartments, industrial facilities and shopping centers. He assists his clients with land acquisition, entitlements, leasing, finance, construction and disposition. He also assists his clients with entity formation and governance. Prior to joining Varnum as counsel in 2017, he formed and managed a boutique firm also specializing in commercial real estate. He received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his law degree from Wayne State University.
Katie Roskam is a tax attorney based in the Grand Rapids office. She joined the firm in 2013 as an associate. With an extensive range and depth of tax knowledge, Katie works with clients in any area where tax is a consideration, including real estate, estate planning, qualified opportunity zones, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, employee benefits, health care and more. She is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law and attended Hope College for her undergraduate degree. She has an LL.M. in taxation from Northwestern University School of Law.
Sam Vitale is a litigation and family law attorney based in the Novi office. He joined the firm in 2016 as an associate, after practicing for several years at a Southfield-based business firm. In his commercial litigation practice, Sam represents both individuals and entities in a variety of matters, including construction litigation, shareholder oppression claims, breach of contract actions and property disputes. As a family law attorney, he assists clients dealing with issues of custody, parenting time issues and complex property matters. Sam is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School and received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University.
Sarah Wixson is a business and health care attorney based in the Ann Arbor office. She joined the firm in 2018 as an associate. Sarah works with businesses, physicians, physician groups and other health care entities on a range of matters and also handles shareholder and corporate disputes, complex commercial litigation and real estate matters. She received her law degree from Wayne State University Law school and her undergraduate degree from Hope College.
