Varnum Attorney John W. Allen Appointed to the ABA Committee on Professionalism
The ABA has appointed John W. Allen as a liaison to the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section's Standing Committee on Ethics & Professionalism.
As a returning member of TIPS, Allen will continue to work to enhance the ethical practice of tort and insurance law and address issues facing their practice area. To accomplish this, TIPS is divided into committees, including diversity in the profession, government issues and ethics and professionalism.
Allen focuses on business and commercial litigation. He is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Allen was recently elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation-only recognition of jury trial lawyers in the United States. With more than 30 years experience handling legal problems, Allen has written and co-written dozens of articles and books and speaks frequently to business and law groups. He regularly teaches courses in law and trial practice to other lawyers and often serves as an expert witness.
Allen is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and has been listed in the Best Lawyers of America since 2005. He has served as the Chair of the State Bar of Michigan Ethics Committee and on the Professional Responsibility Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section.
