Varnum corporate attorney Elliott Berlin was recently named to Southwest Michigan’s 40 Under 40 by Moody on The Market, a local business news affiliate of Mid-West Family Broadcasting. The annual recognition honors young professionals who live or work in Berrien, Cass or Van Buren counties and who have made a positive impact on the community.
This year’s 40 Under 40 honorees will be recognized at an upcoming virtual event and will be featured on radio stations News/Talk 94.9 WSJM and 98.3 The Coast’s Social Network as well as business news website moodyonthemarket.com.
Berlin is a corporate attorney assisting individuals, companies and financial institutions with mergers and acquisitions, lending transactions, real estate transactions and day-to-day business issues. Among his accomplishments over the past year, he has assisted clients with M&A, real estate and lending transactions with total value in excess of $1 billion. A significant number of those transactions were aimed at aiding vulnerable populations and improving economic conditions in distressed areas through various economic development incentives.
Within the community, Berlin serves on the board of directors for The Avenue Family Network, Inc., which provides programs and services for adults with special needs, those affected by domestic violence and for individuals unable to care for themselves. Berlin and his wife, Michele, are the parents of two young children.
Berlin said he is tremendously honored and humbled to receive the award after getting to know past recipients and their contributions to the community.
“I feel a general sense of social responsibility to use the resources available to me for the benefit of others,” he said. “I’m also motivated, because I view giving back to my community – a place where I hope to stay for many years – as an investment in my family’s future quality of life.”
