Varnum Attorney April Sawhill Selected for Leadership Grand Rapids

Varnum attorney April Sawhill has been selected to participate in Leadership Grand Rapids class of 2011.

Sawhill is a litigation and trial attorney with extensive experience in commercial disputes, insurance coverage disputes and personal injury. She joined Varnum in 2007.

Leadership Grand Rapids is a nine-month intensive leadership program offered by the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. The program is designed for current and emerging community leaders and brings together a diverse group of professionals to explore city's challenges and opportunities, further equipping participates to be strong leaders.

Leadership Grand Rapids was established more than 20 years ago; the selection process is competitive as each class is limited to 35 members. The selection committee gives special consideration to each person's community involvement and capacity to be a community leader.

Sawhill serves on board of directors of Health Intervention Services, a nonprofit servicing the uninsured and underinsured in West Michigan, as well as on the Michigan State Bar Awards Committee. She also plays a key role in Varnum's diversity initiatives.
