Varnum is pleased to announce that Kimberly A. VandenAkker has joined the firm as an associate. She will be based in the firm's Grand Rapids office.
VandenAkker has experience in transactional business and corporate law. She is also familiar with the litigation process and employment law matters. Varnum associates spend their first two years working with a variety of teams within the firm as they decide on an area for their legal focus.
VandenAkker graduated magna cum laude in 2016 from the University of Minnesota Law School and served as an editor for the Minnesota Law Review. She was the recipient of numerous academic awards and was inducted into the Order of the Coif, an honor society for law school graduates in the top 10 percent of their class. She received her undergraduate degrees in international development and Spanish with a minor in business from Calvin College.
VandenAkker served as a summer associate at Varnum in 2015. She also served as a law clerk for the Minneapolis-based firm of Trepanier MacGillis Battina P.A. Prior to her legal career, VandenAkker worked in Ghana for an organization helping smallholder farms become profitable via access to technology.
