Grand Rapids, Mich., August 6, 2009 – Varnum Attorney Kent Vana has been appointed Chairman of the Attorney Grievance Commission by the Michigan Supreme Court.
The Attorney Grievance Commission is the investigative and prosecutorial arm of the Michigan Supreme Court for allegations of attorney misconduct. The AGC has jurisdiction over all attorneys licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan. Historically, the AGC receives anywhere from 3,300 to 4,000 requests for investigation per year. Approximately 8-10 percent of those result in the filing of formal charges.
