Swing to Cure Diabetes Golf Outing to Feature U - M Football Celebs
The sixth annual Swing to Cure Diabetes Golf Outing to benefit the Michigan Comprehensive Diabetes Center and JDRF will take place on Monday, May 19 at the University of Michigan Golf Course.
The outing includes 18 holes of golf, a boxed lunch on the course, dinner following golf, a live and silent auction to benefit Type 1 Diabetes research, and photo opportunities with University of Michigan football celebrities. Current and former Wolverines are expected to participate in the event.
The agenda for the day is as follows:
- 8:00 AM -- Check in
- 9:15 AM -- Introduction/Welcome Remarks
- 9:30 AM -- Shotgun Start
- 2:30 PM -- Dinner
- 3:00 PM -- Program
- 3:30 PM – Conclusion
Swing to Cure Diabetes was founded by former University of Michigan football player and Varnum attorney Rich Hewlett and his late wife, Chris. The couple has raised money and awareness for juvenile diabetes after their son, Jeffrey, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 15 years ago.
Hewlett is a trial attorney who lives and works in Southeast Michigan. He has extensive experience in construction law, business litigation and disputes, contracts and sports law.
