Schmidt Elected to Michigan Great Lakes West JDRF Board of Directors
Varnum real estate attorney Peter A. Schmidt has been elected to the Michigan Great Lakes West JDRF Board of Directors. As a director, his primary responsibilities include fundraising, leadership and advocacy for the organization.
The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications through the support of research. JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes and the largest charitable supporter of T1D research.
Among other duties, board directors are required to become JDRF government relations advocates and engage congressional representatives on issues impacting people with T1D. Directors serve two-year terms and may serve up to three consecutive terms.
Schmidt is a partner at Varnum focusing his practice on real estate, finance and municipal matters. He works with businesses, institutions, developers and investors in all aspects of real estate including purchase, sales, leasing financing and development projects. He also represents lenders in commercial loan matters.
