Rynders Featured in Crain's Special Report: The Litigators
Varnum trial attorney Perrin Rynders is featured in Crain's Detroit Business Special Report: The Litigators, featuring attorneys involved in recent major court action.
"These are the litigators driving the big verdicts, major settlements and interesting litigation around the state," said Crain's Editor Jennette Smith. The attorneys identified in the report are the result of reporter Chad Halcom's efforts combing through court filings, sending queries to law firms and reaching out to a range of other personalities to identify top litigators.
Rynders was one of just 14 attorneys identified in the special report. He was recognized not only for representation of more than 100 self-insured businesses against Michigan's largest insurer over the past three years to recover illegal fees, but also for a recent win in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, in which he and co-counsel Bryan Walters successfully challenged a class action settlement affecting hundreds of Michigan businesses for being too small, too secretive, and too burdensome. The appeals court voided the $30 million settlement and sent the matter back to U.S. District Court in Detroit for re-examination.
