Papke Elected to American College of Mortgage Attorneys

Melissa Papke, a partner in Varnum's real estate group, has been elected a fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys.

With a membership of roughly 450 lawyers, the College is an association of attorneys from the United States and Canada who are highly skilled and experienced in the preparation of real estate mortgages, lending transactions secured by real estate, and related practices.

Papke is only the ninth attorney in Michigan to be selected as a fellow in the College, and only the third outside of the Detroit metro area. Fellowship in the College is by nomination and election by other fellows.

Papke focuses her practice on corporate and real estate matters, including development, land use planning, real estate sales and acquisitions, condominium projects, leasing, and real estate financing issues. She is graduate of Dartmouth College and received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. Papke is a member of the firm's Diversity Committee and the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and has been co-chair of the Environmental and Energy Law Committee of the State Bar's Real Property Section for the past two years.
