Leading Family Law Attorney Shalini Nangia Joins Varnum In Ann Arbor
Nangia's practice focuses on achieving the most efficient and amicable results for her clients in family law cases. Though her primary office is in Varnum’s Ann Arbor location, she practices in many southeast Michigan counties. She is experienced in alternative dispute resolution and litigation of high-income and high-asset divorces, custody and parenting time, child support, paternity, property division, retirement benefits and post-judgment matters.
Nangia is a trained mediator and certified as a collaborative divorce practitioner who volunteers through the Washtenaw County Dispute Resolution Center and Wayne County Family Court. She taught as an adjunct professor of family law at University of Detroit Mercy College of Law.
Nangia draws from a broad base of experience in a variety of settings. In addition to private practice, she served for many years as a staff attorney with the Legal Aid and Defender Association in Detroit, where she managed a substantial caseload of family law matters and supervised/mentored law students at Wayne State University Law School's Free Legal Aid Clinic.
Nangia serves as director-at-large on the Washtenaw County Bar Association’s Board of Directors and was the former co-chair of the Bar's Family Law Section for many years. She frequently participates as a speaker at continuing legal education seminars and webinars.
“We are very pleased to welcome Shalini to the firm and our practice,” said Julia Perkins, who leads Varnum’s Family Law Practice Team. “Shalini is a well-known family practitioner in Washtenaw County, and we are delighted to have her join our Ann Arbor office.”
