MiSpringboard Featured on WJR's Opportunity Detroit
Varnum attorney Matt Bower was the guest on a recent segment of WJR radio's "Opportunity Detroit," talking about the firm's MiSpringboard program with host Paul W. Smith.
Bower, who has a particular focus representing startups and early-stage companies, provided an update on MiSpringboard, a program that provides free legal services to startups and emerging companies. One of the points discussed was the importance of new businesses to be well-structured and on solid legal footing from the outset, in order to be attractive to investors.
"It's vital for any company, but a lot of the companies we see are going to go on to seek a round of financing from investors," Bower said. "When investors come knocking, they're going to want to know that you've got your corporate house in order, that you have good title to your intellectual property. That's something that we help with; we help prepare these companies for those kinds of events."
"Opportunity Detroit" focuses on Detroit's ongoing revitalization. It airs Fridays from 7 to 8 p.m. on WJR, featuring business leaders, community advocates and everyday citizens "who are enthusiastic and passionate for taking the lead in our city's transformation."
The segment featuring Bower and MiSpringboard aired July 17. A complete version can be heard here: http://p.cmlsdet.com/player/?feed=9&id=16196
