Is Trial by Jury Headed for Extinction?

Varnum trial attorney Ron DeWaard was interviewed in a recent Grand Rapids Business Journal article discussing the continually decreasing number of trial by jury cases - what's causing it, and the effect it is having on the legal community and our system of justice.

“The trial has been under siege … for a lot of different reasons that have worked together,” said DeWaard. “One of the main reasons, in my opinion, is technology. The huge expanse of technology and information out there has, in a lot of ways, bogged down the ability to prosecute and present the case."

Currently, only a small percent of the cases filed actually end up going to trial, and one of the outcomes is a decreasing number of attorneys with actual trial experience.  See the full article in the Grand Rapids Business Journal, here:
