Hoffius Honored as GRCC Distinguished Alumnus
Varnum estate planning attorney Dirk Hoffius has been named Grand Rapids Community College's 2016 Distinguished Alumnus.
The award, which will be presented as part of GRCC's commencement ceremony on April 29, is given to those who have earned at least 30 credits at the college, have made substantial contributions to the good of their fellow beings, and who have served as a positive motivation for others.
Hoffius attended what was then Grand Rapids Junior College from 1962-63. He earned his undergraduate degree at Colgate University, received his law degree from the University of Virginia, and has practiced law at Varnum for more than 40 years.
Hoffius is well known throughout the community for his distinguished career as well as his significant community involvement, serving on the boards and committees of non-profit organizations too numerous to mention.
"Dirk Hoffius has made his mark in his profession and throughout the Grand Rapids area through his public service," said GRCC President Dr. Steven C. Ender. "We are proud to honor him as a Distinguished Alumnus!"
