Hewlett Guests on WTKA for 'Swing to Cure' Event
Varnum business litigation attorney Rich Hewlett was a guest on WTKA's Michigan Insider program recently, talking about the upcoming 'Swing to Cure' diabetes golf event, set for May 23 at the University of Michigan Golf Course.
Hewlett, a former Michigan football player, spoke with host Sam Webb about the upcoming event and his family's commitment to raising money for Type I diabetes research. He also offered some insight into this year's Wolverine football team, of which his son Joe is a member.
Hewlett's older son, Jeff, who graduated from Michigan this spring, was diagnosed with Type I juvenile diabetes at age four. At that time, Hewlett and his late wife, Chris, became involved with fundraising for JDRF and the UM Comprehensive Diabetes Center. Hewlett has served on Board of Directors of JDRF Metro Detroit/Southeast Michigan Chapter for many years, and is currently president elect.
To date, the Hewlett family "Swing to Cure" diabetes golf event has raised more than $500,000 for diabetes research. Click here for a podcast of the WTKA interview.
