Haney Joins Varnum's Tax Practice
Varnum is pleased to announce that Erin H. Haney has joined the firm's Tax Law Team. She will be based in the firm's Grand Rapids office.
In addition to her law degree, Haney is a certified public accountant and formerly worked for the Michigan Department of Treasury where she completed use tax, Single Business Tax and Michigan Business Tax audits for large and mid-size companies. She was a tax consultant for a major accounting firm prior to pursuing a career in law, and is experienced in preparing tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals and tax-exempt organizations.
Haney received her law degree from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School, graduating magna cum laude. She served as an editor for WMU Thomas Cooley Law Review, received the Shane Joseph Johnson Award for highest first-semester GPA, and was the recipient of ten Certificates of Merit for various law courses. During law school she served as a research assistant, reviewing major portions of the 2012 Guidebook to Michigan Taxes.
Haney received her undergraduate degrees in English and Business Administration in Accounting from Grand Valley State University, where she graduated magna cum laude and received many awards, including the Outstanding Accounting Student Award.
