Gov. Snyder Appoints Varnum Attorney to MI Board of Accountancy
Gov. Rick Snyder appointed Varnum attorney Barbra Homier to the Michigan Board of Accountancy, pending the approval of the state Senate.
The nine-member board oversees licensure and certification requirements for certified public accountants and public accounting firms. Each member serves a four-year term.
Homier is a partner on the Trial Practice Team at Varnum, specializing in family law. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Homier was a securities paralegal at Jackson National Life. She has a law degree from Michigan State University’s Detroit College of Law. Each board member represents a different interest of accountancy, and Homier will represent the public.
“These appointees are great additions to the state Board of Accountancy,” Snyder said. “They will serve important roles in reinventing Michigan.”
Appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the state Senate.
