February 3, 2010

Varnum attorney Bruce Goodman was named a Thought Leader in Law by the West Michigan Business Review for his work in the alternative energy industry.

Bruce was nominated for the award by at least two clients who cited him "for your work with guiding your clients through complicated environmental and market-based issues and your commitment to understanding the bigger energy and resource picture as it relates to your clients' individual operations and processes."

Another client nominated Bruce "for his work and involvement in renewable energy. Bruce has broken new ground and taken the lead in creating awareness, promoting interest and inciting involvement in the growing field of renewable energy (RE) within West Michigan."

A longtime environmental attorney, Goodman focuses his practice on conventional and alternative energy, including various wind energy, biofuels, and solar projects. His energy experience includes negotiating numerous electric power sales agreements, both for wholesale sellers of energy and for retail consumers of energy, state rate cases, developing municipal energy tariffs, and energy project permitting.

Goodman is editor of the firm's monthly energy newsletter which highlights energy happenings in Michigan.
